1962 Chevrolet Corvette: This Classic Car Is A Beast Of A Street Racer

The classic Chevy sports car looks good and sounds even better when it is racing, and hopes for a power upgrade soon to boost it to 820 hp.

We all love a good street racer. Cars that would perhaps be best suited to the racetrack, but somehow are right at home on the road, producing some insane levels of performance. Some of these cars can street race for a long time, too.

This particular car is a 1962 turbo Chevrolet Corvette, that has street raced for over 40 years and looked at recently by That Racing Channel. And it has to be one of the most special street racing cars out there.

Getting To Know This Epic Corvette

The car belongs to Tim, and one thing you notice instantly is how quiet it is for a street racer. This is something Tim has always wanted. The car has street raced for some 40 years and 20 years ago, Tim bought it from his dad who street raced it before he did. The family has owned the car since 1972. So, there is a real family connection with this car, which is very special.

Under the hood is an LS engine, a 1962 engine out of an Escalade to be precise, with 62 mm turbos on them. Stock block and crank are still there, and all-in it makes around 771 hp on 12 lbs of boost.

More Power To Come From This Sports Car

The hope is to dyno the car very soon on 15 lbs of boost, which it has run at but not on the dyno. With that boost on the dyno, Tim thinks it will make around 820 hp at the wheel. Very impressive stuff. And it is a street car that was recently driven to Mexico too, so it has traveled.

There are some other nice features on this car too, such as the original dash pod but with new gauges to bring it a bit more up to date. There is no full roll cage, but there is an anti-roll bar within the car, and a cage is coming soon.

Tim is hoping to freshen the car up a bit soon too, as it has been a while since it has had a one, and that will also include the roll cage. It has done 283 passes so far, and it had 378 clocked up before its last refresh. We also get a bit of footage of Tim putting his foot down in the car and showing us what it can do. Not only does this Corvette look great, but it sounds great too.
