Huge Gallery! Hot Rods, Muscle Cars, And Lowriders Are Back On The Streets Of Torrance

The Legends Car Club hosts its second Cruzin 4 Brews car show, packing the streets of this Southern California city with 300 cool vintage rides.

The Cruzin 4 Brews Car Show, organized by the Legends Vintage Car Club, packed the streets of downtown Torrance, California, with hot rods, muscle cars, trucks, lowriders, classics, and more on the first Saturday of June.

We don’t have winter in Southern California, so hot-rodders here never experience the off-season that hot-rodders in the Midwest and northern states take for granted. That changed when the pandemic hit like a blizzard. No one was exempt, not even here in the land of endless summer. Car shows and cruises were curtailed for a couple of years and we were forced to learn patience.

The first Cruzin 4 Brews Car Show was held in 2019—a perfect example of bad timing. Legends Car Club club president Mark Tippet told us that the premier event was organized in a quick three weeks and, as a result, only drew about 50 cars. They knew that with a year to plan, their next show would be a bigger success. As it turned out, they would have three years, and they drew approximately 300 vehicles to the 2022 show.

Legends Car Club puts on this show in cooperation with the Downtown Torrance Association. The club, which formed in 2002, is now a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization, and uses the Cruzin 4 Brews Car Show to raise money for various charities. The city allows several streets to be blocked-off for the show cars and spectators. Depot Restaurant on Cabrillo Avenue, in the center of the action, hosted the beer garden and presented live music from the local band The Retros.

Meet Northern Bel, the 1966 Plymouth Belvedere that was conceived by owner David Meyer and brought to life by coachbuilder Troy Trepanier. About as tastefully done as one can get, this old Plymouth packs a 526 cubic inch Hemi, twin rear-mounted turbochargers and enough power to launch it to the moon if you placed it vertically.
