Mr Bean’s Most Memorable Moments With His Iconic Green 1977 Mini.

Mr. Bean has a cult following, and in those 15 episodes are some truly hilarious moments with his 1977 mini. Let’s take a look.
Comedy has been among the most popular shows on cable for a long while now. Every country has its own favorite for every generation. For example, shows like The Simpsons, Seinfeld, Friends, The Big Bang Theory, and Family Guy each cater to a different group of people. But there is only one show in the world that is popular with all different kinds of people all over the world. That show is Mr. Bean, a British sitcom from Tiger Aspect Productions that aired from 1990 to 1995. One of the key reasons behind Mr. Bean’s success is its non-verbal comedy. No matter what language people spoke, they could easily understand and enjoy Rowan Atkinson’s visual comedy.

Another thing that helped is that they kept the incredible, distinctive humor at its core. Almost everyone can relate to the everyday scenarios that Mr. Bean manages to disrupt with his silly antics. While Rowan Atkinson is the one and only star of the show, he has several companions with him and his comedic mishaps. One of them is his Green 1977 Mini 1000 MkIV. This little Mini is about as iconic as it gets in the world of cinema, and it has some glorious moments in the series. But some of them are so cool, they deserve more recognition. Here are some of the most memorable moments of Mr Bean with his iconicn green Mini.

Mr Bean’s Car Park Chaos

For a task as simple as getting out of a car park, Rowan Atkinson and his team made a 4-minute comedy scene out of it. The scene starts with Bean attempting to leave the parking lot like anyone would. But Mr. Bean wasn’t impressed with the high parking rate he had to pay. So he decided to leave from the entry gate, so he wouldn’t have to pay at all. As a car entered through the gate, Bean tried to slip past the checkpoint before the gate closed, but he couldn’t. Mr. Bean tried numerous ways to get past the entry gate. He tried mimicking a car entering and even dragged a huge bin to fool the sensors! He almost made it to the road but had to back up to give way to an actual car entering the parking lot. Finally, he got desperate and decided on the extreme measure. He backed up all the way to the other end of the gate and waited for someone to open the gate.

As fate would have it, it was none other than the blue Reliant Robin. As soon as the gate opened, the Mini’s headlights lit up, and Mr. Bean floored it as hard as he could. The poor little 3-wheeler had no choice but to back up to avoid a collision. Finally, Mr. Bean made it out, and the Reliant Robin ended up as it usually does, sideways on the road.

The Mini’s Arch-Nemesis & The Unbreakable Security

Speaking of, the Reliant Robin finds itself at odds with the Mini on lots of occasions throughout the series. But, the Mini comes out victorious every time. In fact, the very first scene of the first episode of Mr. Bean starts with the Mini trying to overtake the three-wheeled Robin. The fact that the show runners chose this scene to be the very first, says something about it. While the Green Mini looks to be stock from the inside, it’s got some quirky features that make it unique. Heck, quirky might be an understatement here. We all have the fear of our car getting stolen, but Mr. Bean has it covered for his Mini. Instead of regular locks that came with the Mini, Bean opted to go for the padlock for his car’s doors. But the best part comes next. They actually hinged the rear window to just one side, and one can open it like a mini-door of sorts. But no one expects it, so Mr. Bean just locks the doors and throws the key to the back seat through the rear window! In one particular scene, we see perhaps the most complex anti-theft setup ever.

We already know that the keys to the door are in the car’s backseat. But those aren’t the ignition keys. After opening the driver-side door, he grabs a key stuck on the sun visor and opens the rear trunk with it. Then he takes a purse from the trunk and collects yet another key. This one would start the engine, right? Nope, he is not done yet. This one opens the hood. Under the hood, atop the engine bay, lies the actual ignition key to the Mini. This is the sort of anti-theft system that would make modern tech with alarms and sensors and buttons look so bad to the point of unnecessary. What a legend!
The Heart-Breaking Crush

Over the years, we have grown to love and adore the Mini almost as much as Mr. Bean himself. So it comes as no surprise that a lot of us wept with Mr. Bean when we saw this moment for the first time. When he went to a school open day event, he couldn’t find a decent parking spot. After a bit of searching, he found the perfect place to rest his Mini. Little did he know that wasn’t a parking spot at all. Unbeknownst to him, Mr. Bean had parked his Mini in the way of a army tank. The tank driver, thinking it was part of the program, went ahead and ran over the Mini while Mr. Bean indulged himself in a cupcake. After the tank destroys the little mini, Mr. Bean realized it was too late, and we will never forget the moment he found out about it. In a comedy show full of light-hearted moments, this sudden emotional scene hits hard. This has to be one of the most memorable moments with his 1977 Mini.

Driving From The Top Of The Car

This is probably the most iconic scenes of any Mr Bean moments. Mr. Bean bought more than he should at a DIY store. Now, his car is filled to the brim by his shopping, and there’s no place to sit. Upon looking at the couch chair strapped on the top of the car, a light bulb sparks in his mind. In the move that is equal parts genius and childish, Mr. Bean attached different objects to different controls of the car and extended them to the chair on the top. Then comes something we would never imagine seeing at all: he sits on the chair that is on the roof of the car and drives it from there! Going through the streets of London with what we can describe as the ultimate suave ride.

We were totally behind the sitcom audience when they lost it and even started clapping to the ingenuity of Mr. Bean. In our minds, this scene is pure comedy genius. And it goes without saying that it is one of the most memorable scenes in not only the series, but in all entertainment.
