This LS-Swapped Lamborghini Diablo Is the Reliable Supercar of Your Dreams.

The Lamborghini is a cool, exotic supercar brimming with Radwood energy and relatively cheap on the used market. There’s a big problem, though. If you buy one today, you’re betting a lot of money on an at least 20-year-old Italian V-12 not grenading itself. One solution: buy a Diablo with an engine that already caught on fire and swap in an LS.

More powerful, lighter, and—we’d wager—more reliable.

That’s the line of reasoning that led to this Diablo, now for sale on Craigslist. For the approachable—if not cheap—sum of $105,000, you can buy a Diablo with an LS3 stuffed behind the bulkhead. Chevy says the crate motor is good for 430 hp stock, but the owner says it’s been modded up to 550 hp. That matches the output of a 2001 Diablo VT 6.0, but in a more compact and reliable package.

It also has a G-50 gearbox from a Porsche 911, a limited-slip differential, and a lot less weight to lug around than a standard Diablo. The interior has been updated, too, with orange contrast stitching, heated seats, and even cupholders. Most Nineties supercars can’t match that.

That leads to the typical Craigslist wager. This car would almost certainly cost more than $105,000 to build yourself. Going this route definitely saves you money, it just requires you to trust yet another wild home-brew builder posting an error-filled ad on a less-than-reputable place to buy cars.
