1962 Chevrolet Corvette 4-Speed – 48-Years-Owned Fuel-Injected.

This 1962 Chevrolet Corvette was purchased new by the seller’s best friend and modified for use in drag racing competitions before being acquired by the seller and converted back to street use in 1973.

It is finished in burnt orange with painted flames and is powered by a replacement fuel-injected 327ci V8 fitted with a Lunati Power camshaft and mated to a four-speed manual transmission. Features include a black soft top, front disc brakes, aftermarket 15” knock-off wheels, and a push-button stereo.

The car was repainted in 1972 in its current burnt orange shade and features painted flames, “Sudden Death” graphics on both rear fenders, and a Frank Frazetta “Death Dealer” mural on the trunk. Additional details include a black soft top, fuel injection badging on the front fenders, and a driver-side mirror. Holes are visible in the hood due to previously-installed hood scoops, and fiberglass stress cracks and paint chips in the body are shown in the gallery.

Aftermarket 15” wheels wear gold three-eared knock-off spinners and are mounted with BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires that measure 235/60 up front and 275/60 out back.

The interior features vinyl bucket seats and brown carpet that lines the floors and transmission tunnel. Amenities include a push-button AM stereo, an analog clock, lap belts, a dash-mounted rearview mirror, and a defroster.

A three-spoke steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, voltage, and oil pressure.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Muncie four-speed manual transmission and a Positraction rear end with a 4.11:1 gear ratio. Additional underside images are shown in the gallery, along with a photo of the fuel injection unit serial number.

A photo of the car as modified in period is viewable above.

  1. Its like you read my mind! You appear to know so much about this, like you wrote the book in it or something.
I think that you can do with a few pics to drive the message home a little bit,
but instead of that, this is excellent blog.

An excellent read. I’ll definitely be back.
