Field Of Abandoned Dreams, Filled With Dodge Muscle Cars

The Dodge brand has some of the most iconic classic cars in the world. A true classic in mint condition such as a 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona can literally tickle all the senses of any gearhead. Auto Archaeology YouTube channel is not this type of channel. Instead, the polar opposite. The channel showcases cars that have been sitting in fields, sometimes for decades. This video is no exception. Gearhead discretion is in effect.

There Are Classic Cars Somewhere In There

The video begins with our host telling us that he’s changing it up a little for this video. Instead of jumping right into the cars, he informs us that he’s currently in a farm field in Wisconsin. The property belongs to his friend, Norm, who in 2017, was able to show some of the cars on his property. These cars include a 1974 Dodge Challenger Rallye, a 1968 Charger, and a “1974-ish” Ramcharger. At first look, it is very hard to even see any cars because of the overgrown foliage, but luckily the Auto Archaeologist has his trusty machete.

The Final Resting Place Of The Classics

At the 55-second mark, we get a better view of the vehicles without any plant life in the way. The first car on the list to show is the ’74 Challenger Rallye, which originally came with a 360 ci four-barrel and a four-speed transmission. Unfortunately, those are long gone. The doors are both impossible to open, most likely due to the absolutely horrible shape the car is in. The trunk literally has a plant growing out of its rust hole perforations.

Next to it, sits a 1974 or 1975 Ramcharger. Apparently, it is one of these years because the truck still has full-sized doors. He also tells us an interesting, fun fact. This is the only Dodge model truck that has the 15×8 steel wheel that can fit a dog dish cap. Unfortunately, the truck has rusted and sunk into the ground worse than the Challenger and would take more effort than worth to remove, making this their most likely final resting place.

A New Found Appreciation

The 1968 Dodge Charger is the last car on the list. This car is in the worst shape of the three. The car has obvious signs of being in a rear-end collision. Aside from this, the car has not one but two trees growing through the engine bay, which makes getting near the car almost impossible.

In a sense, the video doesn’t offer much in terms of getting up close and personal with the classics. What it does do, however, is offer an appreciation of those who dedicate so many hours to keeping cars like these alive and running. After all, these are just metal, plastic, and glass, and just a couple of years of neglect can mean the difference between life and death for these cars.
