For a car that feels almost forgotten in some quarters, the Citroën DS is one of the most beautiful looking automobiles ever crafted. It’s a reminder that for many years, the French could produce truly remarkable cars. However, you’ve probably never seen one with Hemi power. Well, digital car renderer Al Yasid has taken the iconic French sedan and not only slammed it to the ground and added widebody modifications, but also given it Hemi power.
Hemi Power Is The Highlight Here
With the rendering, we get a look at the front of the DS and the rear too. At the front, it’s quite clear to see what the biggest addition is. This French classic now has Hemi power under the hood. At least, it would be under the hood if the hood existed. It’s highly likely that this big American power is too big for the Citroën’s hood! The front fascia is mostly unchanged with most of the chrome bumper still there, although the wheels have been quite dramatically changed. The rearview of the car though shows the biggest changes.
Widebody Citroen Gains A Bulge Down The Side
At the back, we can really see how different this Citroën DS is. The car has gained extra paneling from the back quarter panels and all down the side, adding a bit of bulging to the formerly clean and smooth lines of the DS. The extra bodywork stops just short of the tail of the car. The area around the trunk looks unchanged, and the rear fascia is quite familiar. The tail lights though, look to contain more modern LEDs.
Slammed Citroën Creates Dramatic Stance
The other major change though is that this Citroën is quite clearly slammed to the ground. The ground clearance the car now has is certainly not going to be favorable over any form of speed bumps, but if this car has retained the clever hydro-gas suspension then that might help matters a bit! Yasid has also added quite the crafty looking rear diffuser. It’s not as big as you would find on a race car or a radically tuned supercar, but there is one underneath the chrome rear bumper. The DS also has a different exhaust setup to standard, with a single exhaust on either side. This is certainly a very different take on a French classic.
An unlikely pairing between a French classic and American powerplant makes for the perfect digital rendering.
