Joe Biden’S Collection Features A Gorgeous 1967 Corvette Stingray (The C2).

Many people aren’t aware that President Joe Biden is a major gearhead, and here is the most captivating car in his collection.
Many people know Joe Biden for his role as the President of the United States, but many don’t know that beyond the presidential speeches and meetings in the Oval Office, Biden is just as much of a gearhead as anyone else in the automotive world. Like many other car enthusiasts, the president has a fleet of incredibly amazing cars in his collection that was once quite massive before he was elected in office.

Despite his once large collection, only a few remain in his possession today. This was inevitable with the presidency. However, of the few that remain in his possession, it is clear that his favorite is his 1967 C2 Corvette Stingray, and reasonably so.

The Corvette Stingray is undoubtedly the most gorgeous car in the president’s collection, and here are a few reasons why.

First, Let’s Tell You A Bit About President Joe Biden

As previously mentioned, Joe Biden is well known for being a politician and being the President of the United States, but looking beyond that, he liked loud cars just like us enthusiasts. Growing up, his father owned the largest Chevrolet dealership in his state, which inevitably allowed him access to many vehicles.

In 2016, Biden and Jay Leno, collaborated and created a YouTube video going over his beautiful C2 Stingray. Biden mentioned in the YouTube interview that he had the luxury of a new car for prom every year, which he seemed very thrilled about. Senior year, he reminisces the privilege of being able to take a 7,000-mile Chrysler 300D right off the lot.

Biden also stated in the interview that he “likes speed” and used to “bury the speedo” back when he was younger, even saying that he took the Chevrolet Stingray to 152 miles per hour. To cap is all, Biden even does a little burnout on Leno’s YouTube program, showing he still likes to have some fun. Needless to say, Biden’s father was a large influence on his keen interest in cars.

While being the President of the United States is must be definitely awesome, giving up driving for it surely isn’t. The Corvette Stingray lineup is a classic, and this small-block Chevy has been under his ownership since August 1967. It was kept in the family upon receiving it as a wedding gift from his father, though the car was left to sit and inevitably needed some major work.

Thanks to Biden’s two sons, the C2 Stingray was detailed, and the motor was reworked as a Christmas gift some years back, allowing her to purr once again. Biden stated in Leno’s interview that he, unfortunately, doesn’t get to drive the car much, and driving it on the program makes it the third time he’s driven it in seven years.

It was rumored to have been listed on Craigslist weeks before the president-elect’s inauguration for $1.2 million, but the ad was taken down and wasn’t seen. Upon fulfilling the role as president, it has been confirmed that he still owns the car to this day and the car is speculated to be in Delaware.

Biden states that he thinks of his son, Beau, and his father whenever he gets to drive the car. The 1967 Corvette Stingray was kept in his family for a long time, so he definitely has a lot of sentimental value attached to the two-seater.

Joe Biden’s Collection: What Makes The C2 So Special?

The 1967 Corvette Stingray was and is a special car, featuring a small block 327, that put out a staggering 360 horsepower. While it might be average for today’s performance car standards, the C2 Stingray had what modern sports cars lacked – a raw driving experience.

With no traction control, anti-lock braking system, or any of the other advanced technology that aids modern vehicles today, 360 horsepower feels like a lot. Weighing in at just over 3,000 pounds, it could still go from rest to 60 mph in an impressive 4.7 seconds, so the C2 Corvette Stingray wasn’t a slouch by any means.

Joe Biden’s Stingray was originally bought for $5,600, and it features a 4-speed manual transmission. However, due to popular demand amongst enthusiasts and the push for electric vehicles, market prices have drastically gone up since then. Six years ago, prices were around $78,000, while today, they would run you well over six figures. Just one month ago on Bring a Trailer, a few 1967 Corvette Stingrays sold anywhere from $180,000 and upwards of $250,000, nearly a 3500% increase in value from its original price.

With its smooth body lines, stylish curves, and elegant body style, the C2 Stingray proved to be a timeless classic and this is shown in its high resale value today. Understandably so, we can see why the ’67 Corvette Stingray is the president’s favorite and proves to be the most gorgeous car in his collection today!
