Rare 1967 Ford Mustang S-Code Gets Special Treatment From The Gas Monkey Garage.

The classic muscle car received some cool updates and fine-tuning, to make it even more of a desirable collectors car.

The two things that Gas Monkey Garage’s Richard Rawlings knows a lot about finally come together in one project, restored Ford Mustangs and hair care products.

The Beardburys 1967 S-Code Ford Mustang

Ford offered the S-Code Mustang from 1967 through 1969. The big 390 cu-in V8 offered 320 hp, about 50 more hp than the top-rated 289 available at the time, and had the option of a heavy-duty 3-speed manual, a four-speed manual, or a “Cruise-O-Matic” automatic transmission. There were also two options for the rear axle ratios, including a 3.00:1 open differential and a 3.25:1 limited-slip version.

The Beardburys Mustang is black on black with a deep gloss black exterior paint sporting the always impressive Gas Monkey custom decal treatment over a flawless black vinyl interior. Other Gas Monkey upgrades include chrome engine valve covers, repainting the engine Ford blue, dual stainless exhaust, aftermarket wheels, a new four-speed shifter, and adding a Ford Mustang GT grill complete with fog lights.

First Drive in the 1967 S-Code Ford Mustang

You may remember one where a similar Mustang gets totaled during a test drive. Knowing that, it is hard to watch as Phipps approaches a busy cross street while saying the clutch needs adjustment.

Thankfully, that’s all the drama we see, and the rest of the test drive shows a smile on Phipps’ face that conveys what can only be pure joy at driving such a classic car.
Back at the garage, the team continues to fine-tune the car by working on the brakes, aligning the front suspension and steering components, and installing the aftermarket wheels that were a miss judging from the video comments.

At the end of the video, we see a smiling Richard Rawlings as he drives the completed Mustang away, presumably headed for Spain.
