DMC DeLorean Widebody nSports Car

This DMC DeLorean Widebody Comes Back From The Future.

DMC’s classic car from the Back To the Future movies, the DeLorean, is responsible for inspiring the hearts and minds of many for decades. Today it’s known for not just its design but its perhaps less-than-supercar-levels of performance, but it remains an iconic car.

Since then, it has managed to enjoy a renaissance in the form of the Alpha5, an upcoming EV which combines sleek looks with a three second 0-60 mph performance and a slated 300-mile range.

Today, though, snappily named Carmstyledesign on YouTube, is showing off a wide body render concept of the DeLorean, and we have a look at the design closeup.

The DMC DeLorean Reimagined As A Modern Sports Car

This is no modern DeLorean Alpha5. It is an independent reinterpretation of the original car with many new ideas and design features.

In a bold orange color, the first thing you notice upon seeing Carmstyledesign’s DeLorean concept is the wide body design, with an overall shape that is very angular, particularly the front which has a straight hood and bluff front end conjuring images of the old Volkswagen Golf GTI MK2.

The front end has a closed top grill and open air intake at the bottom, suggesting it is an EV, although the video contains internal combustion engine sound, so it may be hiding a turbocharged engine under the hood – or a hybrid powertrain.

Huge deep-dish wheels composed of black turbine-like rims combine with the glaring blue LED headlights to give the car presence, along with the lowered stance it has on the road.

Carmstyledesign’s DeLorean Concept Blends Old With New

Up back, the rear lights include a new, wrap around design and integrated light bar, composed of LEDs once more, with no visible exhaust tips and a rear diffuser included at the bottom.

Perhaps the strongest link to the original car is this rear quarter section, which has a raked, fastback-style lid and sloping C pillars that bear a strong resemblance to the DMC DeLorean of old.

The car’s design overall is retro and modern at the same time, the angular wide body front combines with futuristic LED lighting and wheels that look out of this world.

In this way, the renderer has capitalized on the same philosophy as the original designers did for the DMC DeLorean decades ago – where a sports car meets the future in an attractive amalgam of forward-thinking shapes and design.
