Why The Low Rider And Gasser Combination Could Be An Awesome Custom Impala

Seemingly however many years pass, people continue to enjoy buying, restoring and modifying classic cars from America’s golden era in the decades after the second world war.

Every year, cars like the original Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Nova and many more get older, but that love for these classics doesn’t appear to wane. Even better – some folks like to race these old-timers, and one of the more coveted types of retro racer might be the gasser.

Here’s something interesting — Abimelecdesign’s render concept from their Instagram page, showing what a gasser and low-riding Chevrolet Impala might look like with some awesome embellishments.

The Custom 1964 Chevrolet Impala Gasser Restomod

This digital artisan takes a 1964, third-generation facelift Chevy Impala and gives it the gasser treatment in style.

The Impala receives a restyle right before the fourth generation, resulting in one of the more cohesive and well-executed designs for this iconic car – but it looks pretty different as a drag racer.

Gassers are perhaps not the archetypal drag racer that comes to mind, but in the 50s they were the coolest thing happening down at the quarter-mile, taking on standard production cars running on gasoline (hence the ‘gasser’ name).

Typically, these cars would get a raised front end, sometimes with the classic gasser beam axle, creating the iconic look like the one this Impala is sporting. It rides high at the front with the low rear end resulting in its elegant look – the low-riding rear and gasser front seems to suit this custom Chevy.

Modifying A Classic 1964 Chevy Impala For Gasser Racing

Emerging in a dark red, sparkling metallic color with shiny reflective trim and a new gold grill up front with two yellow headlamps alongside two white ones, this ’64 Impala certainly looks cool.

Sprouting forth atop that classic hood are the eight intake pipes, presumably powering the 6.7-liter V8 that could provide up to 425 hp and 425 lb-ft back in the 60s, although here with a supercharger and modern upgrades this car could be a stormer on the drag strip.

We like the original color, the details, and ideas that the artist uses to create an eye-catching retro favorite that combines the idiosyncratic gasser stance to bring something new to the render catalog.

Next, we would really love to see what a supercar gasser might look like – in spite of how sacrilegious that might sound.
